About Us

The Club was founded by a group of friends from Newport Beach during the fall of 2007. These women were brought together by their mutual admiration of Hillary Clinton and their shared desire for a forum for civil discussion of political issues. Within a short time, supporters of other Democratic candidates were drawn to the discussions and the club started growing at a rate of one woman a day. Clearly many Democratic women in heavily Republican Orange County felt the need for such a group.

During three informal monthly meetings, the group built membership, identified a mission statement, approved a constitution and by-laws and applied for charter status with the Democratic Party of Orange County (DPOC) in January 2008.. We now have over forty members and welcome new members who agree with our mission.

We intend to be a mechanism for interested individuals to discuss important public issues with respect and without rancor. Purpose: The Newport Beach Women's Democratic Club shall focus its efforts within Newport Beach and neighboring communities and shall seek to publicize activities and to build its membership from registered Democrats within this area.
